About the opportunity

The Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) team works with businesses and finance teams to address the risks of accounting, financial reporting and regulatory issues. FAAS teams serve as trusted advisors, both practical and innovative, to help our clients navigate through accounting and financial reporting challenges driven by the changing economic and regulatory environment.
Commodities Markets (CM) is a specialization within FAAS, focused on clients active in trading energy, metals, agriculture, chemical and related products. Our clients include:
  • Global trading houses specializing in trading commodities
  • Trading divisions of large conglomerates, consumer goods and industrial companies buying and selling commodities
  • Financial trading and broking companies
  • Industry bodies and infrastructure providers in the sector
Commodities Markets is a global specialization. This includes the US (Houston as hub, and teams in New York, Chicago, San Francisco) and Europe (London as hub, and specialists in Zurich, Geneva, Copenhagen, Munich, Paris). Singapore is start-up team and will be the Asia-Pacific hub.

As a CM Senior Manager, you will be a founding member of the team in Singapore. You will have a unique opportunity to initiate and build a new business. You will engage with clients, bringing them benefit from our insights, creativity and energy. Leveraging FAAS- and firm-wide pool of people as well as global CM specialists, you will build a regional pipeline, pursue opportunities and deliver high-quality engagements.
Specifically, you will:
  • As part of practice leadership, be collectively and individually accountable for development and execution of account plans
  • Individually and together with practice leaders and senior executives generate new business connections and develop sales pipeline
  • Engage in conversations directly with clients, seeking assistance where needed, to understand their needs
  • Lead pursuits and bids, through formal (e.g. RfP) or informal mechanisms
  • As part of practice leadership, be accountable for business development and revenue targets
  • Oversee various projects and leverage team members to ensure successful delivery of service offerings to our client
  • Plan and execute quality and risk management aspects of client engagements
  • Ensure effective and efficient project execution according to professional and EY standards, set budgets, and timelines
  • Develop thought leadership and industry insights with colleagues in other global CM practices as a means to grow business
  • Lead in staff recruitment, mentoring, development and career path planning for our staff
About you

We’re looking for people with the following experience
  • Solution-oriented with “go-getter” personality
  • Willing to try new ways to solve old problem
  • Experience in managing a diverse client/ project/ task portfolio is essential
  • Experience of managing teams and individuals is essential
  • Experience in a start-up business or team will be beneficial
  • At least 8 years of relevant work experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in professional services (ideally audit or consulting) with delivery and business development track-record
  • At least 3 years of exposure to commodities trading sector. This experience may have been gathered through professional services (audit, consulting, technology, outsourcing) or industry roles in commodities trading sector
  • Demonstrated achievement and interest in commodities trading sector through education, work or extra-curricular experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • A team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Confident, independent and adaptable
